Alternate Rules

In an effort to make the game a bit more gritty, we are using some alternate rules when it comes to injuries and healing. All of this is taken from the DMG.

INJURIES
A lingering injury (DMG 273) occurs when a PC drops to zero hit points but is not killed outright.  

HEALING
Healer's Kit Dependency: A character cannot spend any Hit Dice after finishing short rest until someone expends one use a of healer's kit to bandage and treat the character's wounds.

Slow Natural Healing: Characters don't regain hit points at the end of a long rest. Instead, a character can spend Hit Dice to heal at the end of a long rest, just as with a short rest.

REST VARIANTS
Gritty Realism: This variant uses a short rest of 8 hours and a long rest of 7 days, but only when it comes to healing.
